New Tour Schedule for 2008

The tour schedule is now available and the GOLF CHANNEL website will be ready soon for registration. Our first event is Feb 23rd at Brentwood CC in Beaumont, Texas.

If you are a returning member and live in the Louisiana/East Texas area and would like to change your local tour please do not sign up for the tour you played in 2007. Wait until the Louisiana/East Texas site is operational so you can play close to home. If you have already renewed your membership please send me an email requesting to be changed to the new Louisiana/east Texas tour.

Once again thank you for your patience and we look forward to seeing you on the Louisiana/East Texas Tour.

Hey guys. Excited about the La.- Tex tour this year. Quick question. Do points count from tournaments out of your designated tour for the end of the year championship?

Frank Wallace IV, Tour Director said...

Good question Bobby!!! Yes tournament points from other tour events count toward your local tour for qualification to the National Championship. You must play 5 local events and then we apply points from all your events played across the Golf Channel Tour (Local, Regionally and Nationally) and add up the points for as many tournaments as the local tour holds. As an example, If we hold 13 tournament at the local level, we will take upto 13 of your events played to calculate your points, keeping in mind that 5 of the 13 must be played on the local tour. If you have additional questions, don't hesitate to contact me at fwallace@theaagt.com

Thanks, Frank! Points system is crystal clear. Next question, my Handicap Index is 7.4. My trend handicap is an 8 or slightly above. Would this put me in the Hogan or Palmer Flight? I checked the winner's of the Palmer Flight Championship... these guys are good! I'll take my medicine if I have to.

Great question Bobby - You are right on the edge for your flight and if your handicap changes before the first event and flighting starts we will make sure you are in the correct flight. We do make sure we move you to the proper flight based on your performance. Which of course means you could go either direction. One thing to note though if you are comparing last years player performance to this years flights. There is a change in the flight names. Last year's top flight was Palmer it is now the Championship. The Nickluas flight is now the Palmer. So you should look at last years Nicklaus flight to compare for this years Palmer flight. Hope that helps and if your index changes before our tournament starts we will evaluate your current flight.

Thanks for your great questions
